Our proprietary terrain datasets, combined with navigational and positional capabilities of our fleet of UAVs, enables the creation of accurate terrain and surface models at incredible resolutions of up to small fractions of an inch. This type of dataset is called a digital elevation model, or DEM, and can be used to perform a wide variety of analyses; for example, on slope grade, aspect, solar exposure, or hydrology.
DEMs can be delivered as a digital surface model, or DSM, or a digital terrain model, or DTM.
The DSM models the elevation of the terrain and all objects on it, such as buildings and vegetation. The DTM is a representation of the underlying terrain as bare earth.
