VECTOR DIGITAL ELEVATION MODEL - 3-FOOT CONTOUR:     SR-1 near Lucia, Monterey, County, CA, 17 May 2017 The vector contour digital elevation model is the modern equivalent of the classic topographic contour-line map. Like the its raster counterpart pictured to the right, it can be used as further input for terrain analysis, either using a geographic information system, or by more traditional means. This dataset can be seen as a simplification of the raster DEM; sampling its much denser data at a user-defined interval (3 feet in this case). This results in a much smaller file size for easier handling.

RASTER DIGITAL ELEVATION MODEL (DEM): SR-1 near Lucia, Monterey, County, CA, 17 May 2017
This DEM is a raster representation of elevation,  georeferenced to an orthomosaic. Each pixel represents  the elevation of an area on the ground roughly 2.5 inches square; shown in detail inset.
This model is composed of over 1.55 billion pixels, each containing a single elevation value.
